Louisville Cardinals vs. NC State

Next Saturday, the Cardinals will try to end their losing streak on the road in North Carolina against the 1-3 Wolfpack.

Cardinals fans are jumping off bridges but this is definitely a game they should expect to win.

We expected it last week but Brohm should tear apart the Wolfpack defense.

Re: Louisville Cardinals vs. NC State

N.C. State has the 5th best scoring offense in the ACC (24.5) - it'll be interesting to see how that unit matches up against the much-maligned Louisville defense. QB Harrison Beck has thrown just 2 TDs and 7 INTs through four games, so if the Cardinals D is ever going to get things righted, this would be a good opportunity.

Re: Louisville Cardinals vs. NC State

Player Comments:

Louisville Junior Center Eric Wood
"You have to prepare the same way for every game and I don't think that we prepared well enough for this game. I don't think everyone played well enough to win this game and the score showed. I could kinda feel that we weren't ready to play this game and as a leader of this team, I take responsibility for that and I can guarantee that it won't happen again.

(on preparing for the game) "We take one game at a time like we said at the start of the year. There are still a lot things that we can do to salvage this season. Two losses is not the end of the season but at the same time, I can't be sitting up here every week talking about how many mistakes we made and how things will get better next week. In order to have a good season, we have to prepare for every game like it's a national championship like people prepare for us."

Wood's taking responsibility for it, but anyone with half a brain can read between the lines. If they weren't prepared, that's definitely on the coach.

Re: Louisville Cardinals vs. NC State

How this Cardinals team performs this week should go along way in determining where they go this season. Either they continue to tank it or they show some guts and play up to their potential.

Re: Louisville Cardinals vs. NC State

I think the Cards faithful are just a little shocked. We didn't see this coming.
This reminds me of the year after Louisville beat Bama in the Fiest Bowl and Louisville went 2 - 9 the next year with a very porous offensive line.
Years after that we alway went to a bowl when Schnellenberger was coach.

In same comparison of communication of the offensive line, it must take years together to gel and communicate to make an effective defensive backfield.

Louisville has two from jr college and new coaches in the mix.

I kinda saw that we were getting offensive recruits but there hasn't been as much on the defensive side.

So, I just hope they can play more competitive. It will probably still not look to good on defense, but what a great offense.

Right now, High School teams could score on them. This shouldn't be.
That is where coaching has to take responsibility.

They need to get away from booing the team. Boo the coaches not the team. Those are kids out there. Coaches get paid.

Re: Louisville Cardinals vs. NC State

Louisville was able to get things back on track somewhat with a win over N.C. State on Saturday.

According to the Associated Press, "Louisville's maligned defense forced a season-high five turnovers and the Cardinals overcame Brian Brohm's least productive performance of the season in a 29-10 victory over North Carolina State on Saturday night... Brock Bolen rushed for a career-high 112 yards and a touchdown, as the Cardinals ground game rolled up 247 yards to help take the pressure off Brohm and avoid yet another shootout."
