The Cardinals said most of their defensive problems began with poor communication -- players didn't hear play calls or didn't catch on to the proper adjustment.
Louisville’s defensive coach Cassity said he takes some solace in how the defense has bounced back from other tough games in his four years at U of L. The Cards gave up 49 points to Memphis in 2004 before allowing just a touchdown to Texas Christian the following week. In 2005, after a 45-14 loss at South Florida, Louisville held its next two opponents to 24 points combined.
