Drfunk's Power Playoff Rankings

Drfunk's Power Ranking Blog

Alright, so here we go, didn't have an idea of what to write about so I'm giving this month's end predictions of where their playoff chances stand. I'm only giving my Top 8 (possibly 9 or 10) teams of who has the best chances and were they'll rank so this is subject to change. Let's get started.

1. Los Angeles Lakers (8-1)

- Okay so you probably knew I was picking these guys but there's a lot of good evidence. First, Kobe. Second, Kobe. Nah I'm just kidding, but seriously, reigning MVP, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher, and Vlad make up probably one of the best starting lineups we've seen. Second, the Lakers bench is just as good as these guys which make it easy for them to switch in and out guys for different lineups that kill teams in the transition. Only loss so far is by Detroit and they've beaten the Hornets, Blazers, Nuggets, Mavs and Rockets to get where they are.

2. Houston Rockets (7-4)

- These guys are good and physical (when things are going their way). Did you see the way Artest was annoying Kobe during their game? The game between the Rockets and Lakers didn't change till late in the 3rd quarter and then the Laker Show ran off with the game. Give these guys more of the season a more healthy Tracy, and get Shane Battier back in and this team is dangerous. So far they're leading their division and I'm picking so far to have them sit at the 2nd spot at the end of the season.

3. Utah Jazz (7-4)

- Off to a great start and they've been doing this for what? How many years? These guys are consistantly always in the playoffs and always making trouble. So far their 7-4 leading their division and the only two teams to have a chance to knock them off are the un-healthy Blazers and the Nuggets minus AI which are also (7-4).

4. New Orleans Hornets (7-4)

- Simply, these guys are bound for the playoffs since having Chris Paul on the team. Great in transition and very quick on the fastbreak, these guys gave LA a run for their money twice before LA put them to bed.

5. Denver Nuggets (7-4)

- With the loss of AI you get an addition of not only Chauncey Billups but also McDyess in which Billups is a great controller of the game and McDyess is physical. These guys can challenege anybody in the West as long as they keep their heads screwed on right.

6. Phoenix Suns (8-4)

- Phoenix is doing very well but for some reason, I don't see them making it down the stretch in the top 5. Maybe it's me, but does anyone get the sense that since Shaq made those comments about returning to LA that it might get the team down? LA gets to face the Suns next and we'll see. Hopefully they'll move up in my rankings.

7. Portland Trailblazers (6-5)

- These guys have soooo much potential with Greg Oden but if this guy keeps getting hurt and he has an achillies ankle, then it's a no go. 7th spot for these guys and that was out of love to see them return to a top Western Conference spot.

8. San Antonio Spurs (5-5)

- These guys seem in trouble this year with the loss of Parker and Ginobili and now they're having to lean on a aging Tim Duncan who I'm not sure can carry this team. The Spurs have fallen to a .500 record of 5-5 but I'm pretty sure they'll pull through and make it to atleast the first round of the playoffs.

P.S. SORRY ABOUT THE MISTAKE ON THE POLL, DIDN'T THINK IT THROUGH LOL
