Re: Kobe Bryant Lakers scoring record Jerry West attempted an average of 1674 shots a season, with a career high of 1795. Elgin Baylor's average season was 1955 shots a year, with a high of 2273. Kobe Bryant's average over his career is 1659 a season, with a high of 2248. In comparison, Jordan shot over 2000 times a year and Iverson over 2200. West shot 47.4 per cent for his career, Baylor 43.1, Kobe is at 45.2, Jordan at 49 and Iverson at 41.8. Obviously Kobe's field goal attempts are lower because of the years he spent with O'Neal. This year, Kobe is 954 for 2119 for 45 per cent, and he has shot over 500 threes. Kobe has taken over 1200 shots more than the next highest Laker!

Re: Kobe Bryant Lakers scoring record It is impressive not just for the record, but he has to impose his will on the competition for The Lakers to have any chance at all of winning. And they are in the playoffs, so the record is even that much more impressive as a result.

Re: Kobe Bryant Lakers scoring record Outside of his court awareness, WVU, I am not sure how much more of Kobe's game needs work. He scores in every way possible, rebounds as much as someone in his position should, and next to Bruce Bowen he is probably the best perimeter defender in the league, to the point he is irate if the guy he is guarding so much as gets a shot off. He is somewhat of an underrated passer as well, considering he averages thirty-five points a game it is impressive he gets nearly five assists as well. I am just not sure how much his team would benefit from him being a pass first as opposed to shoot first player.
