ESPN is teasing a story about Kobe Bryant wanting out of Los Angeles. Has anyone heard any details about this?

Kobe is going to be traded just like Larry Johnson was going to be traded from the Chiefs, the Broncos were going to give up 6 picks for Calvin Johnson, etc,,,,So whether it was in print or not, it 'aint happening.

I just caught the story. Apparently he's denying demanding a trade. But then he went on to say that he wanted to see Jerry West return to replace Mitch Kupchak (sp?), and he wants the team to go out and get him a better supporting cast. Like a big dominating center, maybe? It does sound like if he didn't get what he wanted, that he might want to be dealt. Thoughts?

Maybe he can start a team with Favre and Clemens etc...

Why not? The list of great NBA players who have been traded at some point during their career is a long one, and includes Wilt and Kareem.

Because Kobe is too big a cash cow, box office wise and merchandise wise. Back in the Wilt and Kareem days, there was really no merchandising money to speak of.

So was Shaq in Orlando (Big fish little pond???)...and a bunch of other stars around the league...but once they want to go, then you better be able to get some trade value or they will walk away as free agents anyway...or worse, pout and sulk until they affect the entire franchise.

Wilt was traded because he slept with all the girls in Philadelphia and needed some new ones in LA.
