Latest on the Kobe Bryant saga, courtesy of the LA Daily News.

LA Daily News - Kobe: Lakers lied to me
BY RICH HAMMOND, Staff Writer
Article Last Updated: 05/29/2007 11:00:38 PM PDT

Kobe Bryant said he chose to stay with the Lakers in the summer of 2004 with the understanding that the Lakers would aggressively pursue top players and remain committed to winning championships.

Now, Bryant said he believes the Lakers misled him.

The Lakers' public meltdown took another turn Tuesday when a seething Bryant called the team's front office "a mess," repeatedly said that he had "trust issues" with management, issues he isn't certain can ever be resolved, and left open the possibility of a trade.

Bryant accused the Lakers of deceiving him about their plans to undergo long-term rebuilding in the post-Shaquille O'Neal era and also bristled at the oft-expressed belief that he forced the Lakers to trade O'Neal.

"I get up at 4:30 (a.m.) and I get on the court and work on nothing but defense," Bryant said in an interview with 570-AM. "My focus has been all about getting this team to the next level. Now, the tone has switched now. The tone has switched. Because now I've got serious trust issues."
So there definitely seems to be a rift between Kobe and the Lakers front office. How does this get resolved?

Re: Kobe Bryant trade rumors

I just listended to Stephen A. Smith's interview with him, and he seemed pretty adamant that he wanted to be traded. Not that I am a conspiracy theorist BUT... It is funny how all of this pops up a week after the west coast has secured the top two picks in the draft. Oden and Durant are franchise players who will probably continue to keep the best teams in the west. I would not be surprised that if Kobe is traded, it will be to one of the major market east coast teams (Chi, Boston, New York or Philly). The NBA needs to have a major market team on the east that is good, and this is the quickest way that will happen.

Re: Kobe Bryant trade rumors

You would think, but i am not sure Philly has much to offer. Maybe their draft pick (not sure what # they are) and iguodola. Other than that not sure who they would want. As crazy as this sounds, Boston has a lot of decent young players, and a decent pick. Would not be suprised if he ended up there???

How about Kobe to Boston for LA native Pierce and the Celtics current #5 pick.

I just listened to that too. Straight out of Kobe's mouth, he said "yes", he want's to be traded.

BTW, I hate Kobe with a purple-passion but, if the Celtics were to suddenly land him, I'd be a HUGE Kobe fan!

As a [former] Laker, I don't think he would go to Boston.

Kobe to the Knicks! Ressurection.

I wonder if those rumors of Kobe going to Dallas for Dirk might come true?

Shame on him, Shame.

But since he is a Laker, I shall forgive him.
