Smyth scores twice, Johnson takes him out

A violent check by the LA defenceman led to Smyth's exit on a stretcher. the Avs are saying he was conscious the whole time and he was walking, but no news yet on what exactly is up and if he is out at all for a while.
It was a hit that sent Smyth into the edge of the glass and he hits HARD.
There was a fight planned between Avs bruiser laperierre and johnson, but Blake, the kind, fair man that he is, stepped in and stopped it. he isn't saying he agrees with the hit on Smyth by his teammate Johnson but he thought a fight might see the youngster end up hurt.
You mean, like Smyth?
I have to admit, I hate it when a great player gets hit like this. I'm not saying a mediocre player deserves a bad hit, but when a great player gets hit like this, it seems planned and just evil.
Final laugh - avs win, 5-2.
note about the Avs - they've won every game since forsberg was signed - since he hasn't played a game yet, I'm not sure what that means.

That means they didn't need him!

Yeah, that's the first thing I thought - they could have saved themselves some dosh, and just told the players "Hey, we have forsberg". That would've been enough to get the fires roaring.
