Kings fire Andy Murray (and an assistant coach) as the team struggles to stay in playoff contention. Scout John Torchetti takes over.
This is bizarre. They're tied with Edmonton for seventh and play two games less that the Oilers (12) but doesn't it seem like a strange time to make a change? Maybe they think it'll totally change things around, get the team inspired. Kinda seems desperate.

Assistant John Van Boxmeer was also fired as a result of the Kings' weak power play. He was the other finalist for the top job when Murray was hired in June 1999....That Dave Taylor is my kind of GM...power play ain't working, get rid of the coach...that's a man with vision
