Guess it's too late to worry about should or shouldn't - they HAVE signed Wells and he's slated to start tomorrow night!

Yeah, I'm guessing they must be pretty desperate, to not only sign him, but to put him on the mound so quickly.

No matter how you feel about the guy, he can still pitch. His pickoff move is still sick. He made David Wright look foolish.

Wells threw five innings, giving up two runs and seven hits while walking three and striking out two. He won and improved to 6-8 on the season, and his next scheduled start is Friday against the Padres. He was okay, nothing spectacular, but I could see where he'd still be a good spot starter.

He's still a vet who knows how to pitch. If the Padres can get to the playoffs, he'd be an asset there as well. Not to many starters have a long history in the playoffs.
