Actually, saying the Dodgers are 'struggling' might be putting it nicely. They're 2-8 in their last 10 games. They've lost five straight. They're now in fourth place in the NL West, 58-54, four games behind the division leading Arizona Diamondback. So what the heck is the reason for L.A.'s free fall?

It's gone from bad to worse for the Dodgers. According to the Associated Press, "Ken Griffey Jr. singled home a run and made a pair of rally-snuffing defensive plays Wednesday night, sending the Cincinnati Reds to a 1-0 victory that left Los Angeles blanked for the third game in a row... The Dodgers' offensive slump is reaching near-epic proportions. They hadn't been shut out three games in a row since 1966. That year, they got blanked three in a row from April 23-25, then again in the last three games of their World Series while they were getting swept by Baltimore."

Not only did they score a run today, they actually scored FIVE and managed to beat the Reds, 5-4 in 11 innings.

Well, they haven't been quite so awful lately, but they did lose again yesterday, 7-4 against the Colorado Rockies. The one-time division leaders are in fourth place, 7.5 games back, with a 63-60 record. Are they all but out of the pennant race?
