Derek Lowe and Tom Glavine combined to give up 22 runs on 35 hits, with neither striking out a single batter, in a 13-9 loss by Los Angeles. Lowe, who gave up six runs on six hits in the first inning alone, told reporters after the game, ""I'd describe it as live batting practice... I made a ton of mistakes and they capitalized on every single one."

Well, L.A. wound up dropping 3 of 4 to the Mets this weekend, with New York closing out the series by beating the Dodgers 5-4 in 10 innings today. According to the Associated Press, "With the score 4-all in the 10th, Lastings Milledge singled with one out against D.J. Houlton (0-1). Carlos Beltran singled and David Wright grounded sharply to third, just beating the relay throw to avoid a double play. [Chip] Ambres, who entered in the ninth, then grounded a single past third baseman Nomar Garciaparra, who was playing in on the edge of the grass with two outs."
