Not many guys are pitching as well as L.A.'s Brad Penny is right now. He improved to 3-0 with a 5-1 win over San Diego yesterday, and thus far has a 0.89 ERA. As manager Grady Little told reporters, "I think what you're seeing this year from Brad Penny is that he's not out there grunting on every pitch, trying to throw 110 (mph)... What he's doing right now, he's pitching, he's not throwing. And he's getting good results." How long can he keep this up?

Is Penny currently dating Alyssa Milano, who used to go out with Carl Pavano? I have heard that they are either together now or were recently.

Penny suffered his first loss yesterday, 9-1 to the Angels. According to the Associated Press, "Penny (5-1) was roughed up for eight runs and eight hits in five-plus innings. In his previous eight starts this year, the right-hander allowed a total of eight earned runs." Ouch, rough outing.
