Funny, you should bring that up. I was just talking about this with my old man the other day. I realize that Jackie was the one who had to go through the most hell, had the toughest road to hoe... but Ricky was the one who took a chance on bringing him in, went to all the effort to find the right guy, the guy with enough character to face the challenge, and I'm sure he was targeted by his own fair share of racists as well. It's Jackie's night and he deserves it, but it'd be nice to at least hear Ricky's name mentioned once or twice during the course of the evening.

Agreed...But what is sad is that there has been a huge decline in African American participation in the game of baseball...Hopefully those numbers will come up...One thing I do wish though was they had picked just one person to sport Jackie Robinson's number on this day..Maybe Griffey Jr...

You and me both, Bob. Griffey was the one who asked Rachel Robinson and Bud Selig for permission to do this. If it was just him, and maybe the Dodgers team, it would've been a more fitting tribute. I don't understand the Phillies, Cardinals, C.C. Sabathia and all these other players and teams jumping on the bandwagon. Hate to say it, but for me, it cheapens the sentiment.
