Re: Is Jeff Kent a Hall of Famer? I would have to agree. I saw him last night against the Dodgers at Shea, and he looked horrible. I miss his Giants' days when he teamed up with Barry Bonds and Rich Aurilla.

Kent was a 2nd baseman so you've got to take his numbers with that in mind. Biggio was just a compiler of stats. Kent was much more dominant. He won an MVP. Biggio couldn't have won an MVP on his best day. Now I'm not trying to knock Biggio - he was a very, very, good player - just not Hall of Fame worthy.

| Re: Is Jeff Kent a Hall of Famer? Here are some numbers- 8385 at bats 2386 hits 262 home runs 1061 RBI .285 lifetime average 1 MVP Award and 7157 at bats 2070 hits 331 home runs 1312 RBI .289 lifetime average 1 MVP Award The first set of numbers belong to Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg, the second set were Jeff Kent's coming into this year. Kent is a Hall of Famer folks, as is Biggio.

Re: Is Jeff Kent a Hall of Famer? Yes, but Kent played with the Giants' Barry Bonds during the steroid-Era. That must raise some eyebrows considering his MVP Season in 2000. Ever since he left playing with Bonds in San Francisco, he has been nothing special. That seems a little suspicious even though I can't see him ever taking steroids. Just keep that in the back of your mind.

Re: Is Jeff Kent a Hall of Famer? I don't believe anybody ever looked at the build of Jeff Kent and thought steroids. Kent's numbers will be better than only about a handful of the second baseman already in the Hall, with more homers than any of them. If he doesn't go in, then what second baseman does from now until doomsday?

Re: Is Jeff Kent a Hall of Famer? It may not be fair but players of this generation (with their primes being post-1994 strike) will all be looked at with a humongous microscope that past generation of players didn't. Not just the fact the baseballs have been juiced, but ballparks are smaller, pitching quality has decreased, and then yes, steroids will factor into the equation.
