Jared Weaver goes to 9-0

Jared Weaver joined Whitey Ford as the only AL rookie to start 9-0. That's a big accomplishment for the rookie pitcher. Is this kid the AL Rookie of the Year?...He is 9-0 and his ERA is 1.95 in his first 12 starts. He gets my vote.

Oh, I don't think there's any doubt he's the best rookie in the AL this year, and he may be the best prospect to come along in a few years. If he stays healthy and consistant, Weaver could potentially be a great one.

Yeah, I thought his brother was a talent...but Jared seems to be a cut or two above him...reminds me of the start Fernando got back in 1981.

Re: Jared Weaver goes to 9-0

Jered Weaver has the potential of being a future Cy Young winner, if not this year. He is a sensational rookie with a great arm. At 23 years old with only 12 games in the majors, he is already showing signs that resemble a young Roger Clemens.

Weaver starts tomorrow versus Boston and Josh Beckett.

Weaver's numbers are pretty amazing and should be one of the better stories to follow down the stretch of the season. He's undoubtedly helping to lead the Angels towards the Athletics.

Re: Jared Weaver goes to 9-0

I think Weaver will have a hard time on the mound tomorrow against Boston. Both teams have the motivation of making the Playoffs, so this should be a good match-up. Boston didn't look too well against their rivals, the Yankees, but they have a powerful team that has the potential of winning a championship. The Angels have had amazing success this year relying or rookies. If you imagined a team depending on rookies and decent veterans to lead them to the Playoffs, you would think that they would finish like the Florida Marlins or the Kansas City Royals. But not the Angels of Los Angeles and Anahiem. You must admit that the marketing outcome that left the Angels representing two towns is a tad bit messed up.

Sure enough, Boston handed the kid his first loss.

Re: Jared Weaver goes to 9-0

If Willy Mo Pena didn't throw out Juan Rivera at the plate, the game would've been tied at 2. Weaver didn't get enough run support in last night's performance, but definitely could've gotten the win there. I know he did give up a homerun to the over-powering David Ortiz, but so does every other pitcher on the mound.

Maybe next time he'll get a win.
