WHAT'S NEXT: The Angels likely will use their loaded farm system to attract some big-name talent to cure their offensive woes. Putting SS Brandon Wood, who led the minor leagues with 43 homers in 2005, on the table could entice Washington to deal OF Alfonso Soriano or Baltimore to part with SS Miguel Tejada. More affordable options include 3B Joe Randa, who has seen his playing time evaporate in Pittsburgh with the emergence of Freddy Sanchez. The possibility of landing OF Carl Crawford still exists, but parting with Santana may be too big a blow to the rotation. Anaheim also could sign recently released Ruben Sierra to provide a lefthanded bat in the lineup until either OF Darin Erstad or 1B Casey Kotchman return. ... 2B Adam Kennedy's days with the organization are numbered with slugging Howie Kendrick up with the big club.

I like this kid Brandon Wood...I wouldn't be so quick to throw him on the table...though for Tejadas I would pull the trigger.

I can see them going after Randa and keeping Wood. I just don't see the sense in trading a top-notch prospect like that for a ringer like Soriano or Tejada, even though they're only 1.0 games out of first in the AL West right now. Wood has too much potential to give up on for a temporary hired gun, I think.

I haven't heard anything about that. Cabrera is small potatos. As far as the minor leaguers, it depends on who the minor leaguers are. After the success of guys like Robinson Cano and Chien Mien Wang, the Yankees are very leery about trading prospects.

See that is what I am thinking...why mortage the future?...I have been following Wood a few season and he seems legit.
