| Angels: Jered Weaver Hot July 23, 2006 KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Jered Weaver became the first rookie in 25 years to win his first seven starts, pitching the Los Angeles Angels past the Kansas City Royals 3-1 Sunday. Robb Quinlan hit a two-run single and Adam Kennedy had an RBI single off Brandon Duckworth (1-4), sending the surging Angels to their eighth win in 11 games. They improved to 15-4 in July and 11-2 in their last 13 games at Kansas City. Weaver (7-0) allowed one run and three hits in 6 2-3 innings, striking out four and walking four. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 1.15 ERA in 47 innings. Fernando Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Dodgers was the last rookie to win his first seven starts when he opened 8-0 in 1981. This kid is 7-0 his ERA is in the low 1.10's and his whip is under around .75 I thought his brother was a decent pitcher...but this kid looks like he has CY young Stuff |

| Re: Angels: Jered Weaver Hot The Angels have the perfect pitching staff for the future and perhaps now. As you might already now, the Angels called up Joe Sanders a couple of weeks ago. Sanders made some ugly appearances last year, but seems to be doing fine this year. In his first start this year on July 18th, he picked up a win giving up four hits in seven innings of work. I would keep a close eye on these magnificent starters for future fantasy baseball leagues (especially Weaver). |
