Cool Colon to DL

Quote:
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim placed righthander Bartolo Colon on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

The 2005 Cy Young Award winner had an MRI exam Tuesday afternoon which showed a posterior impingement on the right elbow. The Angels' medical staff said Colon will continue to receive therapy.

You really have to wonder whether Colon's career is winding down. He can't throw hard anymore, has an ERA of 6.72 and a WHIP of 1.67.

Yeah, I think it is. He's been ineffective and fragile far to much over the past few seasons.

Re: Colon to DL

I think he just needs to take the year off and get healthy. Come back next year slimmer and get the arm stronger. He just won 21 games in 2005. I think he may still have some left, but has been trying to pitch hurt.

You're right. He shouldn't be trying to pitch hurt. If time off will help get him back to his old form, then that's what he should do. But...you can't play forever, either.

That would be the past two seasons, he won the AL Cy Young award in 2005. He never was in great physical shape, but when he is painfree he is a solid pitcher.
