The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (formely known as the California Angels), are 53-35 - 2 1/2 games ahead of the .........Seattle Mariners? and 9 games ahead of the A's....

Can the Mariners actually catch them for the division? Personally, I don't see it. But if I knew for sure, I'd be a rich man.

Long time Angels fans know better than to dismiss the Mariners after what happened to us in 1995 when the Mariners caught fire at the end of the season and took the division in an extra 1 game playoff. Anything is possible, but I think the Angels are up to the challenge this year.

Thx, lol. As a lifelong Angels fan, I had to point it out. Now if only I could convince Arte Moreno to get rid of the Los Angeles part of the name, I'd be a happy camper!

Why did they add that, anyway? Wasn't it to try and broaden the appeal of the team? Has it worked at all?

What I heard last season is that it was driven by money. They changed the name because LA has a bigger market than Anaheim. They thought they could take some of the money being thrown at the Dodgers.

The idea is to broaden the fan base and include LA. What Arte failed to realize is that many of us became Angel fans because of the fact that is WASN'T the LA Angels. The name change annoys most of us and angers many of us. I can only hope that he realizes his mistake and fixes the name the way it was meant to be, the Anaheim Angels.

To go off on a tangent, if Donald Sterling had taken the appropriate move and put the Clippers in the same building that the Ducks play in, I would have become a die hard Anaheim Clippers fan. His refusal to move the team into that building has made me dislike him even more than I already did. Boo Clippers, go back to Buffalo!
