Angels Best Start Ever

Despite yesterday's loss, the Los Angeles Angels are off to their best start in team history. According to the Associated Press, "The Angels lost for only the ninth time in their last 32 games, a streak that has sent them to the top of the AL West. Their 40-25 mark is the best in franchise history -- the 1979, '80 and '02 teams had 39 wins at the same point of the season." Can they keep playing at such a high level?

I doubt it. Their team has too big of a history of injuries. Escobar's elbow will go out eventually again. Hasn't Vlad had a string of injuries the last couple years? That will slow them down some.

I do think they will win the division this year though. It will just be a lot closer.

Biggest difference with this club and years past is depth. They have already dealt with the loss of Colon, Weaver, Escobar, Kendrick, Anderson and Speir, and yet still have the second best record in MLB. They are able to absorb injuries much easier this year, and the youth, which many expected to be here, is finally producing.

Welcome aboard, halofan! Thanks for joining us! Vlad's having a good season thus far, too. Getting some MVP discussion.
