Will the wildcats be blue in 2008?

What can fans expect from the 2008 Kentucky team?

Re: Will the wildcats be blue in 2008?

The Louisville game will be very indicative of what kind of team the Cats will be this season. It will be a difficult game to win, especially on the road, but it won't be impossible. The great unknown will be the quality of the receiver corps---that's where UK's losses were most significant. Dicky Lyons, Jr. and DeMoreo Ford are the two returning veterans; almost everyone else will be new to the routes and routines. Kyrus Lanxter will be a little better than that, though, because he was red-shirted last year. He has no game experience, but he knows what's expected from the many practices he took part in last season. Aaron Boyd is the star of the incoming freshman class. He won't be great immediately, but he likely will be in the long run. He reportedly needs to gain some weight, though. The QB's, running backs, O and D linemen all look pretty good. The linebackers and the secondary should be pretty solid. In fact, Kentucky will probably field its best defense in a very long time. As usual, the quality of special teams are an unknown right now. The depth is better than it has been in years, so that should help. If the receivers are productive, this could be a very solid team.

Aint been announced yet. Pulley and Hartline both had similar performances against each other in the blue/white game.

Re: Will the wildcats be blue in 2008?

The quarterbacks are not familiar to football fans outside the Kentucky area, but both of the top two are capable. One of them played wide receiver for two years, then took a red-shirt season, both to get his academics in order and to do qb-specific drills in preparation for this season. His name is Curtis Pulley. He will be a junior this season. The other one was Andre Woodson's backup last season. He is from North Canton, Ohio, and his brother plays for Ohio State. His name is Mike Hartline, and he will be a sophomore this season. Neither of them is close to being as good a passer as Woodson was, but both of them are considerably more mobile and capable of running effectively. That was a skill UK lacked at the position while Woodson was the starter.
