Gillispie, Patterson earn honors from SEC

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie and freshman Patrick Patterson shared two of the Southeastern Conference’s top awards in a vote of league coaches, announced today.

Gillispie and Tennessee’s Bruce Pearl shared SEC Coach of the Year honors. Patterson split Freshman of the Year with Florida’s Nick Calathes.

Patterson is the first UK basketball player to be named SEC Freshman of the Year.
