LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky has hired Chris Thurmond to coach the team's defensive backs.

Thurmond replaces Thom Kaumeyer, who spent only a few weeks with the Wildcats before taking the same position with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Thurmond comes to the Wildcats from the University of Houston, where he spent the last two years as cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator.
