| Cats building a tourney résumé LEXINGTON, Ky. — The NCAA invited 20 media folks to Indianapolis last Wednesday. Set them up in a conference room. Gave them all the scheduling information and computer data that the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee will have when it selects the 65-team men's field five weeks from today. Dozens of basketball teams entered the media debate for an at-large bid to this mock NCAA field. The session will have no influence on the real tournament, but it's an interesting indicator of national opinion. I have learned the name of at least one team that was not even discussed: Billy Gillispie's University of Kentucky Wildcats. Not enough juice in the computer rankings. No remarkable moments during nonconference play. Not enough goodies to make the world forget Gardner-Webb, San Diego and other forgettable early hiccups. I can't argue with that decision. But I will predict this: The real committee won't be able to ignore UK the way the mock committee did. Rick Bozich: Cats building a tourney résumé
