| Unused Players? LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Obsession with University of Kentucky basketball players is nothing new. UK fans have been analyzing and agonizing over the guys on the court for years. This year, they seem particularly preoccupied with the guys who aren't. As the struggling Wildcats (4-4) -- losers of three straight -- visit Houston (9-1) tonight searching for answers, their fans have questions about player absences. When might injured guards Jodie Meeks and Derrick Jasper return? Why are freshmen A.J. Stewart and Morakinyo Williams and junior Jared Carter seeing so few minutes? Coach Billy Gillispie isn't providing any answers to that second question. The first might get one answer tonight. Meeks has gone through full practices the past two days and appears close to returning after missing six games with a stress fracture in his pelvic area. Day-to-day might be an understatement of Meeks' status. "We're like on a minute-by-minute situation," Gillispie said at a news conference yesterday. "Hopefully he can play. We definitely need him. We've missed him." Jasper hasn't practiced since Thursday, when he left practice with sharp pains in his surgically repaired left knee. Jasper, who had microfracture surgery in June, hasn't played this season. "We're getting better without (Meeks and Jasper)," Gillispie said. "You never know if we're going to have to continue without them. If we do, we'll make the most of it. If not, we'll get better in a hurry with those two guys." Unused players a focus at UK
