| Charges dropped against UK fans LEXINGTON, Ky. -- University of Kentucky football fans who were arrested after they stormed the Commonwealth Stadium field to celebrate the Wildcats' victory against Louisiana State will not face trespassing charges. Charges against those fans were dropped this week after UK officials stressed to the Fayette County Attorney's office that the university did not wish to pursue charges, UK spokesman Jay Blanton said. "The concern of the institution all along was people getting injured or the destruction of property," Blanton said. "People weren't charged with any of that. The charges were for criminal trespass, and -- while we don't want to minimize that -- we weren't interested in pursuing charges for that." Thousands of fans stormed the field to celebrate UK's 43-37 triple-overtime win against then-No. 1 LSU on Oct. 13. Blanton said "several" were arrested; he did not know the exact number.
