I totally agree that Billy Gillispie needs to be fired. I have been watching kentucky basketball for 15 years and this is the worst I have ever seen them play. Sure you can fault tubby for not bringing in top tier talent but when was the last time you saw him get creamed by 41. He used what he had and his guys were always competitive and when they lost it was usually by 10 or less. The Vanderbilt game last night was embarrassing for Kentucky fans to watch. Billy's offense is all based off Patrick Patterson who in my opinion should go to the NBA next year if Gillispie stays. He lost one of his best shooters in Legion and starts walk ons. When do you ever see that happen?? I mean we are Kentucky not Gardner Webb(Who beat us as well). If people are going to object to firing gillispie just ask yourself one question. Does San Diego State, Gardner Webb, and Houston really get better recruits then us?? The answer is NO and the answer to fire Gillispie is YES.

Billy basically has a new team that's mixed with some of Tubby's old players. I believe they got big headed before the game and Vandy capitolized. Lesson learned(hopefully). Rome wasn't built in a day. A Basketball program wasn't rebuilt overnight. Tubby let Kentucky fall out of the top25. What about that, if he was so good why did Kentucky fall out of the top25?
You say you have been watchin Cats ball for 15 years. I have been watchin since 86'(when I can clearly remember), so I was watchin when we hit probation and Pitino came in. His first couple of years were rough because of the probation, but the fans gave him a chance because he was a proven winner. He came through for Kentucky and the fans. Gillispie can do the same. It won't happen overnight. The talent is young and has been relyin on basically 4 players. That's why he started to play more players includin the walkons. He has to develop the team so everyone contributes. He has to get more recruits to rebuild the team. Legion left on his own. he said that it was his mom that wanted UK more than he really did. That's not Gillispies fault.

Bottom line: Gillispie needs time, and the fans need to stick with him. He WILL rebuild UK.

Definitely agree that he needs more time. You can't expect a coach to rebuild in one season. Getting the fans to stick with him, though... easier said than done when you're losing by 40-plus points to Vandy. The modern day sports fan has zero patience it seems, and it's toughest in college sports, where fans and alumni actually have a voice and can vote with their dollars. Now, can he really during around the Cats? Somehow, I'm not as confident as you are about that.

You were right about nipping this problem in the bud. After the Gardner Webb loss it was too late to save this season. The coach is now exposed for what he really, really, really, really is- a narcistic huckster that has no respect for talent and a troubling display of issues with women.
