Kentucky Assistant Heading To Illinois

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tracy Webster’s move from Illinois to the University of Kentucky opened a two-way pipeline.

Jerrance Howard, an administrative assistant on Billy Gillispie’s UK basketball staff, will replace Webster as an assistant at Illinois.

Howard played at Illinois, first under Bill Self, then under current Illini coach Bruce Weber. He was on Gillispie’s staff in an administrative role and followed him to UK when Gillispie was hired to replace Tubby Smith.

Calls to Howard’s cell phone were not immediately returned.

“We are thrilled to have Jerrance join our staff and welcome him back home,” Weber said in statement. "Jerrance has tremendous passion for the University of Illinois and our basketball program. He connects with everyone, his attitude and personality is contagious, and he'll work tirelessly to develop relationships on the recruiting trail.”

Get one, lose one. That's the way the ball bounces(no pun intended).

Was it an even trade or did someone have to throw in some extra?

Not sure. Way it sounds though the man had strong ties with Illinois. Hard to find loyalty like that, especially when you are an assistant at UK. That shows great loyalty.
