The record shows that Rich Brooks knows what it's like to beat offensive players who can make the scoreboard glow. This Kentucky-Louisville love-in hasn't been his rookie orientation to a rivalry.

When Brooks was coaching at Oregon, his Ducks defeated Drew Bledsoe of Washington State. Twice. Ditto for Jake Plummer when the Snake quarterbacked Arizona State. Brooks didn't defeat Southern California often, but he did dispatch the Trojans when Keyshawn Johnson was getting thrown the darn ball at USC.

When Brooks was coaching Oregon, the Ducks treated their rival -- Oregon State -- about as respectfully as Tennessee has treated UK. Brooks beat the Beavers the first six times he played them, endured a 0-0 tie and then beat them four more times.

But the coach who has beaten Bledsoe, Plummer, Johnson and other Pacific-10 monsters is 0-for-Brian Brohm while coaching the University of Kentucky. Just as he was 0-for-Stefan LeFors.
