Surgery sidelines UK cornerback

University of Kentucky backup cornerback David Jones will miss at least two games after an emergency appendectomy this week, Wildcats coach Rich Brooks said yesterday.

Jones will miss "at least" UK's season opener Saturday against Eastern Kentucky University and the Cats' second game against Kent State, Brooks said.

Jones' appendix ruptured Tuesday, and he was in the hospital yesterday, Brooks said.

"The surgery went well, and they're monitoring him for infection," Brooks said.
