Cats prepare for EKU just like any other

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The players are pumped. The coach is concerned.
In that sense, it's like any other opening-game week for the University of Kentucky football team.
But there's a notable exception.

Looming at the end of the week is Eastern Kentucky University, not the 10th-ranked University of Louisville.

"It's a little different, as far as fans calling for tickets," defensive end Dominic Lewis said yesterday. "But we're still going to prepare like every game's our last."

This game's their first, and for the first time since 1993, the opponent is someone other than the Cardinals.

The annual battle for the Governor's Cup has shifted to the third week of this season.

Instead, the Wildcats will host the Colonels at Commonwealth Stadium at 6 p.m.
