Re: Gillispe to be new Kentucky coach

I really hate seeing him leave A&M. He was the best thing to ever happen to our basketball program...completely turned it around.

Surprising choice for Kentucky, but still its a good choice, he did make Texas A&M into an respectfull team there. So hope to see that program come up in the next 4-5 years. cause in the short term, not even John Wooden can fix this mess as soon as 1-3 years.

I agree totally, and I sure hope the folks in Kentucky are patient. He's got a heck of a job in front of him.

Actually, the job shouldn't be that tough. I agree that next season doesn't look especially promising, but his track record indicates that he's a quick turnaround guy. His second season at a school is usually dynamite. He will have to beef up the forward and center positions at UK. No one can deny that. But there's no reason why he can't take care of that in one good recruiting season.

That can be true, if he had pure, good state talent wanting to go to Kentucky in the first place. See the last five years when college bluegrass basketball is down so was high school, no big recruits coming out of Kentucky. And now not many great highschool players, especially the all-americans, want to go Kentucky when compared to a likes of duke, UNC now even Florida, UCLA is back after the The Lavin years (aka the Dark ages... lol just kidding) GU JT3 is making big things happen. This program can come back to that point of prominice, but the pressure Kentucky will always give, and the lack of talent that wants to go to Kentucky anymore, which im thinking one or two all-americans is still having Kentucky on thier interest list, will make Gillespie to get this team up in about 4-5 years time. And if wants to recruit big now? Take the JUCO route and get the best from there.
