BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — University of Kentucky freshman
basketball player
John Wall is facing NCAA eligibility questions related to whether his amateur status has been compromised, according to an ESPN.com report.
Citing an unnamed source, ESPN.com reported Thursday that UK has been investigating Wall's amateur status for months because his former AAU coach, Brian Clifton, was a certified agent.
The eligibility of Mississippi State freshman Renardo Sidney also is being examined.
Asked by The Courier-Journal at Thursday's
Southeastern Conference
basketball media day if Wall and Sidney are facing amateurism questions, SEC commissioner Mike Slive said, “As far as I know.”
He stressed that neither UK nor Mississippi State is under investigation for wrongdoing.
