Predicting which teams receive bowl invitations isn't a perfect practice.
As Kansas proved last year, winning six games doesn't guarantee a postseason appearance -- especially when the Big 12 only has eight bowl spots guaranteed. Then again, with certain coaches stuck in what appears to be lame-duck status, there is a possibility that a six-win team could actually reject a bowl berth.
All of this should matter to Kansas State, which is inching closer to bowl eligibility. A win Saturday in Lincoln against Nebraska (4-6, 1-5 Big 12) would take care of meeting the qualifications, but a victory in either of the last two weeks of the season -- home against No. 7 Missouri (8-1, 4-1) and then at Fresno State (6-3) --or both would leave the Wildcats in a more secure situation.
So says K-State coach Ron Prince.
