Gregory hopes journey ends as starting QB

Cole Manbeck cmanbeck@themercury.com
Kansas State senior quarterback Grant Gregory is fighting for the starting spot with junior Carson Coffman. Gregory transferred from South Florida during the offseason. Staff photo by Michael Schweitzer.
Grant Gregory just wanted an opportunity. He desired to be a starting quarterback at a college football program, and entering his sophomore season at South Florida, it looked as if that chance might have presented itself.

The quarterback position for the Bulls was wide open. It was a three-way battle between Gregory, Pat Julmiste and freshman Matt Grothe. Gregory had the opportunity he was yearning for.
But he would tear ligaments in his thumb on his throwing hand just two weeks before the season opener.
