One of their top prospects is Bill Butler (profile below):
Billy Butler was drafted by the Royals out of Wolfson High (FL) in the first round of the 2004 draft. The right-handed slugger has tremendous power, and he's compiled outstanding offensive stats while climbing quickly through the minors. Originally drafted as a third baseman, Butler has moved to the outfield, and while his defense remains a work in progress, there seems to be little remaining doubt that he will hit at the big league level.
And of course Alex Gordon:
After an outstanding career at the University of Nebraska, third baseman Alex Gordon was drafted by the Kansas City Royals with the second overall pick in the first round of the 2005 draft.
Gordon possesses all the tools to become a superstar, and it shouldn't be long before he becomes an All-Star at the Major League level.
