Royals lose 12th in a row...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Omar Infante hit his first two homers of the season and drove in three runs to power the streaking Detroit Tigers past Kansas City 6-3 Wednesday night and stretch the Royals' losing streak to 12 games.

So the question is...are the Royals that much more pathetic than the Pirates and the Marlins?...I mean the Marlins gutted their team and they still have 4 more victories than the Royals...I would relegate all three teams like they do in European soccer.

What's so sad is that both Kansas City and Pittsburgh use to be such huge baseball towns. Especially Pitt, and now they have that amazing ballpark.

As far as KC goes, it seems (from an outsiders view) that they could care less about winning, and only want to turn a profit.

Re: Royals lose 12th in a row...

I think they may have already given up this season. They have the worst record in the MLB and do nothing at all about it. I think it is time to close down this franchise and open up another under a different name. Don't they get tired of embarrassing themselves in front of billions of people nation-wide?

Cool Re: Royals lose 12th in a row...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Ivan Rodriguez was supposed to get a day off. Unfortunately for Kansas City, the Tigers catcher had to play. Rodriguez drove in five runs in the final two innings and Detroit rallied from a six-run deficit to beat Kansas City 13-8 Thursday, handing the Royals their 13th straight loss.

Number 13 and counting...Where does this team rank on the all-time worst teams?...Could the first year Mets have taken them?

They are on pace to go 36-126.

Re: Royals lose 12th in a row...

Whats especially sad, after listening to Peter Gammons on Mike & Mike this morning, is that the team's average age is in the 30s. They're not even losing with prospects who may someday be something; they're losing with has-beens and never-weres. There's no hope for future success either to keep the fans going. Pathetic.

Hey, I'm sure they get more attendence then Florida does. I think fans show up just to watch them lose! They're facing the Yankees tonight ( for a three game set)... I think they might pick up a win ( against Small), but we'll see.

Cool Re: Royals lose 12th in a row...

Their pitching is an absolute joke. At deadline time, they should look to move guys like Sweeney and Reggie Sanders and only take back minor league pitchers.

The 1962 New York Mets went 40-120, the worst record ever. ( I think the 1899 Cleveland Spiders went 20-134, but that was before baseball had really even begun as we know it.)

Yep...that was my thinking, and why I was trying to compare them to the Mets...I mean when you are playing less than .250 ball...you are the pits...at least the Mets were an expansion team...

The way that Kansas City Is going, I wouldn't be surprised if they break the Mets record.

Well, that should be the new slogan..."A record we can actually break -the 2006 Royals take aim at the Mets"

Okay without looking it up, who was the Mets starting 3rd baseman in 1962?
