The Kansas City Royals broke ground last week on renovations for their ballpark, Kaufman Stadium. The renovations are expected to be around $250 million which will include a new scoreboard, a team hall of fame and a widened concourse. That's according to the
Sporting News.
The new scoreboard will be a new high definition feature which is going to be four times bigger than the current one at Kaufman.
"The new scoreboard is one of several projects scheduled for completion before the Royals play their 2008 home opener on April 8. Construction will continue throughout next summer on the area beyond the outfield.
County executive Mike Sanders pledged the project will be completed "on time, on budget and as promised." The club is responsible for any cost overruns besides its $25 million contribution."
Sounds pretty good. Kaufman is already a nice looking ballpark as it is.
