Who will succeed Kansas City Royals manager Buddy Bell in 2008?

At the top of the list is Atlanta Braves hitting coach Terry Pendleton.

Royals bench coach Billy Doran also could be a candidate after serving as Bell's interim replacement last season for the final 10 games.

It sounds like the Royals are going to go with a rookie manager. It's the right way to go with a team that's re-building like the Royals.

I think they could do a lot worse than Terry Pendeleton.

The latest rumor has Atlanta Braves bench coach Chino Cadahia as a candidate. According to Yahoo! Sports, "Royals general manager Dayton Moore and Cadahia go way back: Cadahia was the Braves' minor-league field coordinator from 1997 until this season, when he was promoted to the Braves' coaching staff."

Latest reports say KC is looking at hiring a manager from Japan. A decision is expected to be announced as soon as before the World Series.

"If so, that positions Trey Hillman and, possibly, Terry Collins as top candidates. Ex-Mets manager Bobby Valentine and Marty Brown are also managing in Japan but appear an unlikely fit for the Royals" said the Kansas City Star.
