| Re: Best Royals player in history Gee this is a tough one...i'll have to go with the guy who they have a statue of outside the Royal's stadium. One of the best hitters in the game and came closest to batting .400 in the modern era with .391 one year. Reminded me of DiMaggio. Oh, i'm talking about George Brett! |

| Re: Best Royals player in history Well, I'm a little partial to Jim Sundberg - he's my second cousin. He was the catcher on the 1985 WS Championship team, but just played for them in 1985 & 1986 From Wikipedia: 3-time All-Star (1974, 78, 84) 6-time Gold Glove winner (1976-81) Top 10 in sacrifice hits, three times (1974, 75, 77) He was mostly known for being one of the best fielding catchers of all time. He has a .993 all-time fielding percentage, and won 6 straight Gold Glove Awards. He completed 145 double plays in 1927 games in his career. |

I met him when I was just a kid, before my mom died. Haven't stayed in touch with that side of the family since then, well over 20 years.... |

| It's a shame the Royals can't financially compete, now. They were an excellent franchise for a while. It wasn't only Brett - they had some terrific players: Amos Otis Al Cowens Hal McCrae 5'4" Freddie Patek Dan Quissenbery Dennis Leonard Paul Splitorff (Yankee killer)... |
