Royals sign Octavio Dotel

According to the Associated Press, "Reliever Octavio Dotel followed Gil Meche to the Kansas City Royals' pitching staff, agreeing Friday to a $5 million, one-year contract... Dotel's deal allows him to earn about $2.5 million in performance bonuses based on games finished. The 33-year-old right-hander has missed most of the last 1 1/2 seasons because of an elbow injury." What do you guys think of this signing by Kansas City?

I like Dotel...but why did he chose to go to a minor league team?...He's got to know that their is no glory playing for the Royals...

They are kind of suprising me. They are the new players in the free agent market.

At least Dotel is assured of starting the season as themain closer. They don't have anybody else, do they??

A nice signing for the Royals. Dotel should be able to bounce back now and he's about guaranteed to be a closer for them since they traded Burgos to the Mets.
