Re: Alex Rodriguez to Royals?

Okay, so the odds of this happening are about as good as the odds of Duke playing in the BCS title game, or the Raiders winning the Super Bowl. But Lawrence Journal-World writer Tom Keegan, the author of this article, thinks that Royals GM Dayton Moore should make a run at A-Rod. The offer? According to Keegan, "[3B prospect Alex] Gordon, Mike Sweeney and Angel Berroa to the Yankees in exchange for A-Rod and $8 million."

What are your thoughts on the fantasy deal, here? Is this a trade the Yankees would make?

Re: Alex Rodriguez to Royals?

I don't see why the Yanks would make that deal. They would only get a great third base prospect. What they need is pitching and if anyone makes a solid offer for A-Rod, it would have to surround at least one or two solid young pitchers.

Sweeney is old and hurting and Berroa hasn't improved after his solid rookie season.

Guys, A-Rod does have a no-trade clause....

End of discussion.

Oh, come on MVB, you're no fun. Maybe... maybe A-Rod wants to go to a nice quite town where they really don't give a hoot about baseball. Maybe he's looking to play in the anti-New York, and he decides he really wants to finish his career is Royals powder blue. Hey, you never know.

No way K-Rod is too much like Torre to be traded. A lazy loser who simply doesn't care anymore...in other words the prototypical Yankee of the 21st century. Torre needs K-Rod to show the players how to be a lazy turd just like he is.

Re: Alex Rodriguez to Royals?

A-Rod has priced himself out of the world of reality. Only a relatively few teams could afford to pay him, and the fact that he is a habitual flop in the postseason makes him about as desirable as a barbecued dirt sandwich. Why would they bother? He is the worst of two worlds---grossly overpaid and ineptly unproductive (postseason only). All teams fantasize about winning a World Series but, with A-Rod on your team, the chances are slim and none.

See that is harsh...because A-Rod can be part of the puzzle for a team to get to the World Series...some teams maybe a good bat away from the post season...if they can have the Yankees take on part of the contract, a deal can be done...though not the Royals...

I'd stop referring to Alex Rodriguez as K-Rod...it's a bit confusing, what with there being a "real" K-Rod over in Anaheim.

I wouldn't say he's priced out of other teams price ranges. He only has a few more years left and Texas already pays about $9 Million per year. The Yankees would obviously take on at least $3-4 Million per. Depending on what prospects are involved, other teams can probably easily afford him.

And all you have to do is check out his playoff numbers as a Mariner and as a Yankee. He just has a mental block as a Yankee.

Re: Alex Rodriguez to Royals?

I am sure that the Royals owner will wip out his wallet if he can grab A-Rod. In the deal, they would probably have to send over Sweeney and DeJesus, their top players. The Yankees might also look into Redman as a possible addition to their faulty bullpen.

I'm not sure if Alex Rodriguez will bring a championship to Kansas City, but he wouldn't hurt?

Yep...I think there are plenty of teams that would love to have him...I would love to see him as a Reds.

He might reach 60 in Colorado, though.
