| Re: Royals lose #1 overall pick I believe that what the Royals did in the last weekend of the regular season was a remarkable accomplishment and a tribute to Buddy Bell's ability to keep the team together through the very worst of times. What many of us forget is that the Tigers had absolutely embarrassed the Royals the previous weekend in their home ballpark, humiliating them with some incredible offense. Well, the old adage has it that "you can say anything you want to me, however critical, but it's how you make me feel that really counts." The Tigers made the Royals feel like decomposing chopped liver, and they weren't about to forget. So, when their chance for a payback came around, they weren't going to go belly-up, no matter what it would cost them. We all know how that turned out. What the Royals did was a tribute to the human spirit, and I have to believe it will pay big dividends to them next season in terms of their team self-confidence and tenacity. With regard to the draft, how much difference is there between a first and second choice? Not all that much, in my opinion. |
