| Re: Kansas City season in review Four 100-loss seasons in five years. Something needs to be done in Kansas City, no doubt about that. Sure, you can take away some momentum from the season ending sweep of Detroit, but that's just a band-aid on some far more serious issues. Pitching help is of the utmost importance. According to this article's author, "[GM Dayton] Moore needs to stretch his $55 million budget and come up with a top starter via free agency or trade." Hell, they really need 2-3 new starters. And some bullpen help. But all of that will take money. Will the Royals spend what they need to become competitive?

| Re: Kansas City season in review It's also a question of draw, I would say. Put yourself in the shoes of a free agent prospect or veteran. Why would you want to go to Kansas City??? No matter what the contract....and if you're someone that's in a position to help to the organization then you're likely to have more than one offer. If you're David Glass, you need to do something to show that you're interested in building and maintaining the integrity of your club, and from what I can see this just isn't the case. |

| Re: Kansas City season in review Yes, but you've hit my point exactly....Glass doesn't appear to have any real desire to make the Royals succeed. He's even been publicly attacked on this point by the local media, and his retorts are less than poignant - he even had the press credentials of two radio journalists revoked (great PR move). Hopefully Moore can turn things around - Glass got that right, I think - but in the past he's also been accused of interfering with the GMs' decisions. And the "big" trade that Moore's made since being a member of the organization (Howell for Gathright) doesn't appear to be paying off. I hope you're right and the Royals bring in some talent. Remember, though....the Tigers organization didn't start to turn around until Mike Ilich got bored during the hockey strike!! |
