Royals NOT worst team in baseball?

Well, okay, technically the Kansas City Royals still have the worst record in the Majors, but they're only half a game behind the Tampa Bay Devil Rays right now. And according to the article Suddenly surging KC wins again by Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, "The Royals have won five of their last six and 10 of their last 15 games. They moved past last year’s victory total in improving to 57-90 and can now avoid a third straight 100-loss season by winning just six of their remaining 15 games." I'm telling you, this is definitely a team on the rise. Wouldn't you agree?

Cool Re: Royals NOT worst team in baseball?

They've got some talent but have to get some pitching if they're going to maintain any kind of consistency.

Re: Royals NOT worst team in baseball?

It's easier to play when you are 30 games out. You have nothing to lose if your gambles fail and the pressure is always on the other team because you stink. This club has the worst bullpen I have ever seen, no power hitters, and one of the game's worst managers. Do not be fooled by this slight resurgence.

Re: Royals NOT worst team in baseball?

Angel Berroa isn't bad. I'll take him on a video-game franchise anyday since he has the potential of being something big.

Redman is isn't bad either but he has only had a couple of decent years in his career.

Where is George Brett when you need him?

Re: Royals NOT worst team in baseball?

Marc- Angel Berroa is an absolute dog! Since that Rookie of the Year season (what a farce for him to be named over Matsui) he has hit .262, .270, and .228 this year with seasons of 28, 25, and 18 errors, and he may be the worst fielding shortstop in the majors. I watched him against Boston recently and he was so bad they benched him in favor of a guy, Andres Blanco, who has never hit a home run in the majors. If they could dump him they would in a minute.
The Royals do have some young hitters like Shealy, DeJesus, and Teahen, but the pitching staff is so bad. The bullpen is the majors worst as well.

Re: Royals NOT worst team in baseball?

K.C. just split a four-game series with the Mariners, but their pitching allowed 33 runs on 53 hits during that span. We pretty much know this team won't pursue any free agent pitchers - who do they have marinating in the minors that might be able to improve the staff and pen in 2007?

Well, DeJesus is better than Berroa.

I just like Berroa's speed.
