The crying is over. After 5 years of trying to get the Kansas City Chiefs over the hump and back to the Super Bowl for the first time in forever, Dick Vermeil finally called it quits. Thus began a curious chain of events that lead to a trade with the New York Jets, a 4th round pick for Head Coach Herm Edwards. Edwards started his coaching career in the Chiefs organization and his relationship with Chiefs GM Carl Peterson goes back to college. Rumors of Edwards arrival in K.C. started even before the 2005 season finished. Edwards denied the rumors doazens of times, the last 2 days before he was standing on a podium at Arrowhead Stadium. Edwards left a team in shambles, and comes to a team that is trying to win with a core group of players on the wrong side of 30. If the Chiefs are going to win, Edwards needs to bring defense back to K.C. How quickly they pick up the scheme will determine if the Chiefs get back to the playoffs.

That starting o-line looked week last week but you never know, they could gel early in the year. However, it will be interesting to see the impact Edwards has on the team on gameday. He was an amazing motivator but on gameday, he always left something to be desired in terms of in-game decisions.

11-5 is probably the high-water mark in my book for KC. I could see them going anywhere from 8-8 to 11-5.

this one is tough

im no fan of Herm, and losing Roaf has got to hurt

beating Cinci, Seattle, Denver and Jacksonville could be a tall order for such an unproven team

They will take Jax, but not Cinci, Seattle or Denver...at best 9-7

Re: TheSportsGuru 2006 NFL Preview - Kansas City Chiefs

Trust me, as a Bronco fan I would love for them to sweep the Chiefs, bu Denver just doesn't win in K.C. after October. I don't know what it is, but they don't. Thanksgiving Night, primetime, I just see it as a trap game....

The Roaf retirement is going to hurt alot and I'm not sold on Turley. I did all my projections before the pre-season started so that I would look at each team fairly, but watching this offense score 14 points in two pre-season games make me wish for a re-do....

That's gambler mentality my friend...the odds of them winning in KC after Ocotber is reset for every new year.

I had to have the Broncos lose somewhere. Unless they are going to go 16-0

It's just a tough place for the Broncos to win any time of year, no matter how good or bad each team is....
