Good story. Edwards apparently has a lot of work to do, focus and discipline wise, if he needed to ban cell phones from the locker room and get rid of a pool table in the practice facility. He's a good coach, though. I expect he'll whip these guys into shape.

Reminds me of Clint Eastwood in the movie Heartbreak Ridge...when he comes into the barracks and smashes the radio and snaps the pool stick and kicks general butt cause the last guy their let the platoon go soft...

Cool Re: Chiefs coach Herman Edwards first practice

Having watched Herman Edwards coach for the last 5 years, he's a great coach from Monday - Saturday. Come Sunday, he just stands on the sideline and is absolutely clueless. I hope the Chiefs have good coordinators.

A six day a week head coach...cool...maybe they can hire a game day head coach...lure John Madden out of retirement or something...Herman can prep them, John can coach them...

Pundit that was pure brilliance! I couldnt agree more. Edwards the man who has yet to master the subtle nuances of a digital clock even when he hires an expert to help him??!!!!??? Now ol' Herm is gonna take the Chiefs to the next level. In a word...no. My favorite Herm Moments were always how he explained Jets losses to scripture readings. Maybe the Chiefs should have Moses as their Coach cuz thats all the Jets got. Another great line Jets fans always used to defend Herm is that "players play hard for him." This is easily explained gentlemen. If your a player wouldnt you want a coach who is more concerned with how youre doing in life than how you play football? I would! Psychiatrists are expensive!!! Thats why they played hard for Herm...because they dont want a real coach telling them what to do. Could you imagine Bill Belichik spouting out some Herm scripture after their field goal kicker misses a 20 yarder in a playoff game? I couldnt. No good coach would thats why. Herm missed his calling as high school guidance counselor. Chiefs fans you can start crying now.
