The Chiefs have released a statement regarding Larry Johnson's foot injury, saying L.J. has made "significant improvement," although he's out this week. NFL Network's Adam Schefter says Johnson is "day to day" and the Chiefs are hopeful he will return sooner than later.
"Larry has made significant improvement with less swelling and pain," the statement reads. "His status will be re-evaluated again early next week with further exams and tests. His status for this week is doubtful to out." Doctors may not know the extent of L.J.'s injury until the swelling subsides. It's possible the Chiefs, who haven't been transparent with RB injuries in the past, are being overly optimistic in the press. Our sources close to Johnson say he's getting fitted for a shoe to wear and there is still a feeling that the injury is serious.
