The Chiefs have obvious needs at cornerback and defensive line and wants at several other positions, most notably wide receiver.

It’s not a good year for them to be short a draft pick, which they are because they sent their fourth-round choice to New Orleans in last season’s trade for running back Michael Bennett.

Those six picks are fewer than the Chiefs have had since 2002, which was one of their lousier drafts. They had little margin for error but made them anyway when they picked defensive tackles Ryan Sims and Eddie Freeman in the first two rounds.

That’s why the Chiefs are offering in trades quarterback Trent Green, starting safety Greg Wesley, kick returner Dante Hall and even running back Larry Johnson.

They’re looking for extra picks that will allow them to cast a bigger net.

You gotta be kidding me. No draft pick is worth dealing LJ or the Human Joystick. Those are the kind of guys everyone else is hoping to find through the draft. It's like spending $1,000 on lottery tickets - just doesn't make any good sense whatsoever.

At this stage he is a franchise player with little mileage on him...and the draft is weak at both QB and RB positions...not the time to trade your best players.

The Chiefs have officially denied that Johnson is on the block.

According to the Associated Press, "Team spokesman Bob Moore said Thursday the Chiefs have not offered Johnson to anybody and that no team has been given permission to speak with him. 'Anybody who is reporting it's true is simply not telling the truth,' Moore said."

Of course, this official denial comes just a few hours after reports leaked that the Packers have already offered Kansas City a 1st and a 4th round pick for the Pro Bowl running back. So which report do you believe? Me, I think that if the Chief can trade the AFC's best return man for a 5th round pick, they're capable of anything.

Because he's going to hold out, so they're either going to have to pay him or trade him. They've said they're not going to pay him, so they either have to go back on their word and look like idiots, or deal him and look like even bigger idiots. There was supposedly a deal on the table for a #1 and a #4 on draft weekend but it didn't work out. Not sure what they're doing in K.C. but there seems to be at least some level of validity to these rumors - they've listened to offers for LJ, they traded Hall and word is they're now going to cut Trent Green in June.

They are strong in one postion, but weak in a lot of others. To kinda neutralize it makes sense.
