Talks between Miami and Kansas City about a potential trade for Chiefs’ QB Trent Green reportedly picked up over the weekend when Chiefs’ G.M. Carl Peterson spoke directly with Randy Mueller, his Miami counterpart. Green wants to be sent to Miami, where he is close with head coach Cam Cameron and quarterbacks coach Terry Shea. Green has agreed to terms of a contract with the Dolphins who need at least a short-term fix at QB with the future of Dolphins’ QB Daunte Culpepper very much up in the air because of a lingering knee problem. Not surprisingly, Kansas City isn’t prepared to give Green away. Indeed, it appears that the Chiefs may have upped their demands for Green. Earlier it had been reported that the Chiefs were looking for a ‘first-day’ pick in exchange for Green; however, Peterson was quoted in the Kansas City Star as saying that he thought that a starting QB was worth at least what the Dolphins got when they traded WR/KR Wes Welker to New England earlier this year. In that deal, the Dolphins received second- and seventh-round draft picks for Welker.

Yeah, I keep hearing that Miami's real close to getting him, but the deal just doesn't seem to get done. I still think it'll happen before draft day, but I find it hard to believe that the Dolphins don't seem willing to part with a 2nd and a 7th for their projected starting QB. Do they have that little faith in Green?

Detroit should give their 2nd round pick for Green and take Calvin Johnson with their 1st round pick

of course they wont do this because it would be the smart thing to do

Is Green that big of an upgrade over Kitna? I don't think so. You're half right, though, simon. They should take Johnson.

I think a 2nd round pick is too high for Trent Green. He is 37 years old coming off an injury. Kitna is not that bad they need to give up that high of a pick. I would give up 2 second day picks.

Here's the latest news on the Trent Green trade front. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, "Trent Green is so eager to join the Dolphins that the quarterback's representatives have asked Kansas City President/General Manager Carl Peterson to expedite a trade, a source said Friday. The source also said Green's agents have told Cleveland that he is 'focused on the transaction' between the Dolphins and Chiefs and not interested in visiting the Browns."

Well, Mike Williams certainly thought he was. I think a lot of people wanted him to play some more college ball, though.

Chiefs think that green is worth so much that they are now bringing chris chambers into the talks. Miami would be stupid to do this..

At 37 yearold QB is not worth Chambers...the Dolphins should know that much...maybe they can offer Ricky Williams...oh yeah...not on the roster...I forgot.
